Confirmation
Confirmation is a meaningful step in the faith journey of young people in the UMC.
What it is
The goal of Confirmation is for students to:
- Explore the Christian faith in greater depth
- Claim their faith as their own
- Deepen their relationship with God
- Grow in connection to the church community
- Prepare to profess their faith publicly in worship
While there are many requirements associated with Confirmation, this process is not ultimately about completing a checklist. Rather, Confirmation is about engaging thoughtfully and prayerfully in the work of spiritual formation. Each expectation has been intentionally designed to help confirmands experience the fullness of church life and Christian discipleship as they discern both church membership and how they will claim and live out their faith for themselves.
Program Overview
Program Dates: September 13, 2026 – April 11, 2027
Meeting Time: Sundays at 10:00am during JOY Class hour
Curriculum: Resurrection UMC CONFIRM Curriculum 4
Confirmation Sunday: April 11, 2027 (9am or 11am services)
The Confirmation year includes:
- Weekly Confirmation sessions
- Mentor relationships
- Worship participation
- Youth ministry engagement
- Service opportunities
- Confirmation stole creation
- Confirmation retreat and rehearsal
- Confirmation Sunday participation
